Hi all! I'm new here, and already amazed at the vast amount of information and inspiration. I'm not sure how I never joined the site before, but a recent search for FLF care tips led me to drdawg's website (http://www.tropicalplantsandmo...), which promptly led me here. I believe every room should have at least one live plant, and it's a running joke between my friends and me that I tend to prefer plant companions over humans (that's only sometimes partly true--ha!).

I'm looking forward to learning lots from all of you.

Thanks, Gene! Right now, indoors, I have several run-of-the-mill golden pothos, an english ivy, white rabbit's foot fern, a jade plant, a satin pothos, an air plant, two schlumbergeras, a weeping ficus, a snake plant, and a fiddleleaf fig (my second attempt with this plant Crossing Fingers! ).

I also have a tree philodendron that will come indoors when the temperatures get near freezing this winter, but for now, he's happy hanging out in the shade garden. I also have a few snake plants I recently divided, and they are in my little greenhouse outside. I just remembered that I have a kalanchoe and a small boston fern that I'm rehabilitating for a friend out there in the greenhouse.

I think that's it. Smiling

Welcome! Jana!

I like how you ended with "I think that's it". That's what I said a long time ago, but somehow plants just "appeared" in the house. Haven't done an actual count lately, but I know it's over 40.....but it's never enough Hilarious!

Rabbits foot fern are cool Thumbs up

Thank you, Tiffany! It's a Florist Kalanchoe with red blooms. It's been several months since it last bloomed, so I'm thinking of starting a couple of cuttings from it.

Nice! That should go well. I have a little forest of those from doing that over time, red and yellow blooms. Finally found a pink one this year & hope it takes off soon. It's not growing quickly like the others.

The blooms are instigated by short days, so it's normal for those to have finished a round of blooms at this time of year. I've not had any not re-bloom, the most reliable bloomer of the Kals I have, under my observations so far. No reason to expect yours won't re-bloom too if also put very close to an E/S/W window when inside for winter.

Welcome Jezer. This is a really good place for plant lovers and all around nice people. I am pretty new myself, and am so impressed with the kindness and readiness I see from these guys ready to help or just give tips or a laugh. Welcome!
