And I found a couple of my Kentucky and Appalachian Wildflower books today! I was actually looking for something else, but you know how that goes. Rolling on the floor laughing

#54 is Solanum aka nightshade, I don't know which one.

Okay, I added the names in. I think we still need the purple flower #10-12, the yellow daisy that's #20, and the tall yellow daisy #55-56. Be advised that the numbers changed since I added Spicebush to the database. It took those out of the numbering so things are two numbers off. I tried to place things correctly, but tell me if I'm wrong!

Also, can someone confirm the milkweed as Ascleipas syriaca before I add it? And if anyone knows the Latin name of what I'm calling Fleabane, that would be cool.

Philadelphia Fleabane (Erigeron philadelphicus) Is this what you're talking about Melanie?

I agree it's Ascleipas syriaca.

Do you have any photos of the leaves of the yellow daisy #20? In the pic, I see some very hairy leaves sticking out from under the petals. It looks a lot like rudbeckia hirta but not enough petals????

I feel tall yellow daisy # 55 & 56 is some kind of Helianthus.

Ann, I just looked and I don't have any more photos of the possible Rudbeckia. That was when the thunderstorm was coming and Dad was yelling at me to get a move on.

But, did I mention I'm going back! Yup, next month I'll be visiting Grandma again before venturing over to Paintsville, KY for the Eastern Genealogy KY Conference. So I'll be good and take more wildflower pictures and try to get lots of angles and shots for everyone. Weather permitting. Hilarious!

The purple 10-12 is mint but what one I would have to research.
The flower is right and I can see the square stems and the leaf pattern is also right.

It is not apple or the water type mint

Must go shampoo carpet so it will dry, expecting company Fri

I agree with Cinda on the mint. It keeps nagging at my brain. It's so familiar! I've seen photos of it numerous times. This is driving me crazy!

It looks familiar to me too, but I thought it was just because I've seen it growing there before. There wasn't a lot of it in the area. I didn't see it in either of my books, either and I searched all the purple flowers.

Look under the pink flowers -- sometimes what I call purple will be listed under pink or white listed under yellow because very technically it's cream not white/white.
I checked this site & it wasn't there:

I agree #10-12 is definitely in the mint family with those square stems. It really does look familiar to me too.

#29 Pycnanthemum, look at both P. virginianum and P. tenuifolium.

You all probably already went here but, what about Wild Mint, Mentha arvensis? M. canadensis?
