Good eye Myriam! It sure does look like Centaurea; here are a few bloom photos from the database for comparison:

They certainly look similar. The flowers on this are actually pale pink. Although the leaves up under the bloom stalks seem narrow, the ones further down are broader. Seems to be some kind of centaurea. Even with the name, I don't recall buying one of these.

But then my memory isn't what it once was.

I found out that Centaurea is not a Florida native plant, but it should be in the Asteraceae family..

I do believe you found it Bonita. I still do not know if I put it here or not, but based on what I have read on the plant, it wants to be here and I do too. I let the seeds come out and did not harvest. Hopefully they will self seed and multiply. These beds have native self grown floss flowers and Elliots Astors that I put in. This plant should feel right at home.

Actually it was Danita who found the id: Brickellia cordifolia. Smiling
