I'm not a pansy person (yet, anyway!), but a gardening friend asked me to try to find out if giant pansies can overwinter in zone 5. I can't find that info on the database and don't know where else to look. I hope someone can help!

Hi Barbalee -- I'm not sure how helpful this will be, but I think it sort of depends on 'what' zone 5 we're talking about; according to the USDA, I am now supposedly in zone 5, but pansies don't overwinter for me (however, Johnny Jump-Ups self-sow and return in the spring quite enthusiastically!) That said, I believe I could overwinter pansies if I planted them right next to the foundation of my house.

Hmmm...she's in Colorado Springs, so I have no clue how similar MI would be to that part of CO. Thanks for giving it a shot, Sandy!!
