I recently rooted an avocado pit and when it sprouted the plant is a strange whitish-pink color. Is there something wrong with it?

Its white because, for some reason, its not producing chlorophyll. Two thoughts: its still living off the stored energy in the seed but will start turning green when it needs to. Giving it some bright light may move it in that direction.

A wee bit of fertilizer may help also (anything you have but a quarter to half strength)

Or.. Its a mutant and incapable of producing chlorophyll. If it doesn't soon though, when the seed shrivels, the plant will die.

Albino avocado seedlings are more common when the seeds are immature according to this Purdue plant pathology page:

Thank you for the responses. It is in almost full sun and has grown rather quickly once it sprouted. Hopefully, it will turn green soon. I would hate to lose it as long as it took for it to sprout. LOL I will try some fertilizer and maybe that will help. I have to say it is kinda neat, I've never seen anything like that happen before.
