I looks like a red currant to me although I'd get more opinions before eating any. Although you say "was" so I'm assuming it is no more?

This forum is amazing! Thank you! Bad grammar. The plant is still standing. I will see about identify. It looks a little drier than the pics you posted but I will investigate the leaf pattern maybe that will make it certain
