Does anyone else have strangely shaped pods? Will the seeds develop normally? Will the numbers be decreased? Here's a pod on Two Tone Taffy.

Your pod does not appear to be healthy. The base is yellowing and it appears that where it is connected to the scape is dead or nearly so. I would expect it to fall off in a few days.

I'll have to watch it. It's been looking like that for awhile now but it keeps getting bigger. There is another pod that looks better but is the same shape.

This one in the above photo still green at the juncture and shows no yellowing at the base of the pod. It looks healthy. If your original question was only about the shape of the pod, I haven't found shapes to mean much. Pods all look a little different, come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Small pods can be packed full with seeds, large pods can have one, two, five, six or more or sometimes none. But when a pod begins to yellow at the base where it connects to the scape while remaining green at the top area, it generally signals the death of the pod, and it will soon abort.

I have pods that start turning yellow like that when they are ripening. A few of the older cultivar's pods do that.

Thanks Cindy. I checked both pods this morning and the first pod I pictured isn't really turning yellow. It's just getting paler. Lots of my pods do that when they are ripening. The connection of both pods to the scape is very strange. Like something nibbled all along the base of the pod as you can see in the first picture. But I think it's been like that for weeks so I don't know what it means.
