Margaret, do you eat sugar substitutes? I know some people don't. But, I was thinking you could replace the sugar with Splenda or sweetener of choice.

Rosie, my frozen orange roughy from Kroger says: Ingredients: orange roughy. No mention of preservatives. I didn't think frozen fish would require preservatives???

mcash70 said:Rosie, that's a lot of sugar, would reducing it to 1/4 cyo be ok, I am supposed to watch my glucose, it has been creeping up the past few years, along with my waistline. Glare

The sugar is important but try with the 1/4 cup since you do low sugar anyway, it may be enough. But remember this is a big pot of stuff and so your portion won't be much at all ..the pasta is likely more waist impacting.

I am going to try it as is, sounds good, we don't eat that much sugar most of the time so once in awhile won't hurt. Rolling my eyes.

You will see...it is spread out and so the portion of sugar you get is not much. Not as much as you would get in a 6 oz glass of orange juice

Let me know what you think
It will free you up for a day of no cooking and yet gave a good dinner and it fries or microwaves real well next day

Yes. But what .i gave you as directions will do up a pound. With the three cans tomato sauce and the wee bit of water in the pea can you won't get much extra sauce but enough to toss in and mix the well drained pasta right in the sauce pot.

You can freeze the sauce/ pasta mix tho...or if you only boil up 1/2 pound of dry macaroni .. You can drain it well and spoon half the sauce onto it and freeze the other 1/2 sauce in ziploc freezer bag.

Drag it out another time for another 1/2 pound batch as a side dish, a full meal for two-3, a small chicken parm sauce , , ..or add shrimp to it etc. it really is versatile.

The trick is to whip the butter for 5 minutes. It helps it rise. I'd cut back the sugar as it was really too sweet. It couldn't have been the chocolate chips and 1 cup raspberry jam I layered into it? Naaaaah!

Cashew chicken crock pot THIS CAME FROM THE LAZY OVEN SITE..not tried

Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts cut up (About 4 pieces)
3 Tablespoons Cornstach
½ tsp black pepper
1 Tbsp canola oil
½ cup soy sauce
4 Tbsp rice wine vinegar
4 Tablespoons ketchup
2 Tablespoons sweet chili sauce
2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
1 cup cashews

Instructions:
Combine cornstarch and pepper in resealable food storage bag. Add chicken. Shake to coat with cornstarch mixture.
Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Brown chicken about 2 minutes on each side. Place chicken in slow cooker.

Combine soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup, sweet chili sauce sugar, garlic, ginger, pepper flakes, and cashews in small bowl; pour over chicken. (I like my cashews to be softer so I add them during the cooking process, if you want more of a crunch, add them right before serving) ( or do both!)

Cook on LOW for 3 to 4 hours.
4-6 servings
Serve over rice

Barbecue chicken THIS CAME FROM THE LAZY OVEN SITE...NOT TRIED
2 lbs chicken breasts
1 cup  BBQ sauce
1/4 cup Zesty Italian dressing
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
salt to taste

Instructions
Season chicken breast lightly (a small pinch per breast)  with some sea salt and place in your crockpot.
In a mixing bowl combine BBQ sauce, Italian dressing, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well combined.

Pour over chicken, cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours.
Once time is up, you can serve the breast whole, or shred with 2 forks. If shredding, recover and let cook in sauce for about 10-15 more minutes to soak up all that delish flavor.

The flavor you get from all those ingredients will take your taste buds to a whole new dimension.

It does sound good and I starred it. If you like that one, Deb, I can vouch for this one which I've made several times. The ingredients are a similar mix:
