Thread OP

Can you please tell me (1) How invasive are the roots of a Black Diamond Crepe Myrtle tree? (2) How far away from the house or block wall do I need to plant it? (3) How far away from a sprinkler line do I need to plant it? THANKS AND BLESSINGS !!

Hi MsLatinLady Welcome! ! Assuming this is a 12 ft variety, I would plant 10 feet from house. This allows a good full round canopy to form on top. This should also be far enough away that rodents(squirrels) cannot get on the roof. Their roots are not that invasive, more so that with age there can be lots of roots. But even with an older tree the roots really do not go beyond the canopy of the tree. As far from a sprinkler line as possible, I would say at least 10 feet. I have seen Crepe Myrtle roots grow towards water sources, but the farther away from the tree the roots are smaller and weaker. May you be blessed with a joyful safe week!
One to take to heart....1 John 4 ..............................................Where there is smoke...there is fire...in most cases the smoke will kill you long before the fire consumes you. Beware of smoke screens! Freedom is not free and when those who have not paid the price or made the sacrifice...think that only they are right and entitled to speak...they bring us tryanny.
