! Assuming this is a 12 ft variety, I would plant 10 feet from house. This allows a good full round canopy to form on top. This should also be far enough away that rodents(squirrels) cannot get on the roof. Their roots are not that invasive, more so that with age there can be lots of roots. But even with an older tree the roots really do not go beyond the canopy of the tree. As far from a sprinkler line as possible, I would say at least 10 feet. I have seen Crepe Myrtle roots grow towards water sources, but the farther away from the tree the roots are smaller and weaker. May you be blessed with a joyful safe week!
