The truck was ok. I made up and back without any issues. We got it back to the dealer in time to avoid the second day charge!

The heat & humidity was outrageous. My son and I were soaked. They have a lot of work to do the apartment had issues (well, that is MY opinion).

Hope air conditioning isn't one of the issues!

Glad dad was around to help the still active serviceman and that things went well with the move and truck, other than the heat of course.

Too tired to go to work (ok, I could have gone, but.....................).

My wife TOLD me NOT to do any yard work. Dang. Hopefully I can get a bit done after dinner (the only concession was I can water)

So laundry, bills, general house cleaning. Sticking tongue out

BTW

We did not make it to the "Cake Boss" even though the location is like 6 blocks up and 4 or so blocks over (how's that for directions?). My son estimates somewhere between 1/2 mile and 3/4 of a mile (each way).

It would have been hard to keep the "Lobster Tail" cold enough to survive the journey from Hoboken to Trenton, then to McGuire and then to Hanover. Next time.

I too like my Iris Society, ordered with Superstition Iris Gardens after Rick's speaking engagement. I got the two 2015 Introductions as bonuses with my order (LUCKY ME). So for the 2015 picnic I picked other wonderful selections (like "Molten Flame", "Storm Rider" & "Spiral Galaxy").

My Iris Society decided again to buy from Superstition Iris Gardens for our 2016 picnic. I missed the meeting we made this decision, so I had no influence, but clearly we like their stuff!

We again bout the "club" special which included all of the 2016 introductions, doubled, plus other recent intros and neat selections from other hybridizers.

Ok, so I want to get both of the missing Superstition Iris Garden's 2016 introductions, as I have the third (Irresistible Charm).

I had put the 3 introductions in order of preference, and I got my most preferred in my Superstition order! Next was "Mystic Image" and "Under My Spell" was last (somebody has to be last).

So I get to the picnic and start surveying what other "goodies" are available for the members other than the known 2016 intros. Dang. There is a bunch. Here are as many as I can remember.

Wave's of Joy
Velvet Valentine
American Original
Peach Pearl
High Desert
One Step Beyond

I think there were others, but my mind is fuzzy.

ok, this is good. I have three of those and one of the others I REALLY covet.

So, I start talking up the last years intros. Both are doing great in my yard. Especially "Waves of Joy". I also talk about the other non TB's in the 2016 group so I can spur some interest there. Then if the conversation did go to the TB's, I talked up Irresistible Charm.

There were 13 people who attended the picnic, so it looks like I will only get one or two cultivars. Well, there are a bunch of couples and only one will choose, so it turns to seven choosers.

So the president starts by saying that we will count off to see what order we will go in. And he says, "we will start with Greg".

ONE

How lucky could I be? I will get picks 1, 8, and 15 and maybe more!!!!!!!!!

We did club sales from Superstition last year. I coveted Velvet Valentine but someone snapped it up in the first pick. His rhizomes are huge. I hope we use them next year as this year we did club orders from MidAmerica and Winterberry (hoping to get some rebloomers for the UK Arboretum). I plan to order from them in 2017.

My "talk up" strategy worked and both "Waves of Joy" and "Velvet Valentine" went in the first round. Ok what is available?

There are four TB's still in the 2016 box (only the Superstition 2016 intros were in the box///the "extras" were laid out next to the box)

Still left were:

1 Mystic Image
1 irresistible Charm
2 Under My Spell

What to do? Get "Under My Spell" or the still available "Peach Pearl" on the table? Run the risk! 50/50 "Under My Spell" is still there; very unlikely "Peach Pearl" makes it to the 15th pick.

Pick two:

"Peach Pearl"

Why yes I am.

We want/need to have the "Iris Forum" to be the "top" forum in the ATP/NGA family and we do this each and every week with the thread with the most replies.
