Thread OP

I recently received a bonsai tree as a gift and I am unsure of the species. Can anyone identify it for me? Any important information for the care of this species?

HI LottaHart
Start looking at ficus types that's the direction I'd go .
Sorry to be so vague.

The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The 2nd best time is now. (-Unknown)

The bark isn't right for Cuban laurel. I actually don't think it is a ficus species at all. This plant has leaves paired along the stems. Ficus species leaves alternate. I'm thinking maybe a ligustrum species, possibly Ligustrum japonicum or L. sinense (leaning towards L. japonicum).
