Hi All, first time posting here.

Took this photo in 2006 in Costa Rica, I think it was a national park close to Poas Volacno National park, probably on the Pacific side of the country.

I thought it belong to the berries family, but could not match it with any common species..

I can't guess, but they are pretty.

It's probably too late to ask you to go back and take more pictures, but can you describe the plant?

small, low-growing
bush or shrub
tree
fat fleshy leaves like succulents or thin "leafy" leaves?
grows as isolated plants or a big patch
dry or wet environment?

I still won;t have a chance of answering with its name, but any details like those you can fill in, will help someone who MAY be able to ID it.

I'm also going to suggest that an Admin move this to the Plant ID forum, with a title like "ID Costa Rican "berries"?". But don;t worry, if they DO move it, each time a reply is posted, the thread title will still appear in your "Watch List" on your home page and you can jump to the changed location with one click.

The plant ID forum has a lot of people who seem like magicians to me. They can probably narrow it down to just a few relevant questions.

Thanks Rick, unfortunately I don't remember much other than the photo, I am guessing it is not a shrub or small plant, as the photo is looking up, so either a tree or a parasite growing on it..

I don't have any idea really but it sure is pretty! It reminds me a bit of the fruit of Western Australian Red-Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia)
