Wow, look at some of the thorns on the cactus. Blinking
Now that I am past looking at that part of their anatomy, just look at all the different shapes, sizes and colors of blooms. Lovey dubby
I love looking at cactus, but have no desire to grow them. I guess it's because I already have my hands full growing semps, sedum and a few other alpine plants. : )
I have to keep going back to look at the cactus up close, they are so fascinating. : )
Thank you Neil.

Wow, I'd love one of each! Of course, I'll have to turn my dining room totally into a plant room... Whistling

Diana, These are simply the coir liner (as they're actually two wire hanging baskets wired together) and filled with Sunshine mix. I dug out some more panty hose, though, so I'll be making something unique and funky!

Holly, that is a great idea - post pictures, please!

well.. this is a sphere... although you plant in it ..rather than on it... a great Christmas gift as well.... and good through out the year... revisiting friends that have receved one for Chrismas they are all showing me how well they are stiill doing...
Ths is made from a large... maybe 6-8" chrstmas ball.. be sure to get the ones that aren't glass or the solid foam ones... these are plastic.. and usually find them @ one of the drugstore chains.. before christmas...
you cut a few holes on the top... I use a knife or insulated blade.. heated on the range top to glowing... [ a utility blade held by a pair of vice grips works well ] and make 3 or 4 largeish openings around the top from which it hangs.. here I made them the shape of the gltter pattern .... for planting/waterng don't forget a few smaller holes in the bottom for drainage...

Wow Gordon, what a great idea. Boy would I love to do one with semps and sedum.
I never shop for Christmas ornaments, at least not for many years. Bet I will this year. Rolling on the floor laughing

I just made another succulent sphere out of the wire hanging baskets with coir liners. Here's a link to my site with the tutorial (sorry, I'm not doing it here as well!)

Thanks Lynn - I'll be posting more pictures as it gets more filled in.

The plants will be too cramped at first, but not all of them will live through the winter. Next year, there will most likely be bare spots to fill in with more... Whistling
