Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me identify this creeper that is growing at my parents' place (USDA Zone 9b in rural Victoria). I planted it when I had a garden as a child (probably 15-20 years ago). Mum thought it might be a variety of Black-eyed Susan, but I'm not sure - it doesn't quite match photos I've looked up online (especially the shape of the leaves and lack of dark centre).

Any ideas?

Kind Regards,
Joshua.

G'day Josh, is it "Hibbertia Scandens" Or Snake Vine? --nope, but it might be Cat's claw creeper (Dolichandra unguis-cati)?

Could it just be a Yellow Jasmine?

Hi Paul; thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think it's either of them. The shape of the flower and lack of aerial roots would seem to rule out Dolichandra unguis-cati. Hibbertia Scandens is closer, but the centre of the flower is different, as well as the petal count.

Thanks porkpal - it might be a yellow jasmine - just had a quick look and it looks similar to jasminum humile. Will need to have a closer look, but this is a strong contender.

It reminds me a bit of Winter Jasmine:

Thanks Lin. I've just done a bit of looking at the varieties of jasmine and suspect it's Primose Jasmine (jasminum mesnyi), as it fits the following:

- Grows as a creeper/vine/climber up a tree
- Height is around 3 metres
- In flower now (late winter)
- Evergreen
- Unscented

It's also rooted itself in a few places (as per the comment on the Primose Jasmine in the database).
