This "vine" is now ~ 6 feet tall and has 4 buds that I have found - one looks ready to bloom. My plant looks like a small tree which I have found from research is what it looks like in early years. It only vines per se once it gets bigger. I have it on a South facing screen porch and over-winter it in a West facing back bedroom.
I bought the plant 2 years ago on Ebay from seller Arghyagardens who is quite reliable. At that time it was ~ 2 feet tall. (I have bought several things from her including Commiphora neglecta seed which I am growing from seed.)
I also have a Desmos chinensis (ylang ylang shrub ~ 2 feet tall) and I have two Artabotrys siamensis that I am growing from seed. (Seeds purchased from Trade Winds Fruit) They are only ~ 10 inches tall and were started in 2015. Most peeps call it Climbing Ylang Ylang, but Gardino refers to it as Ylang Ylang vine too. So much confusion out there.
I do not have a Ylang Ylang tree (Cananga odorata) - not enough room.
And wife WOULD kill me. hehe
I bought a Cananga odorata var. fruiticosa a couple years ago but it died on me. After it died, I dug it out of its container and found the seller had the roots wound up in some type of junk. It never had a chance. This one is very hard to find - it is impossible to find seeds for it.
And yeah -- living in Zone 5B I AM freaking nuts.
