Sondra's post made me go give a close look at my Epiphyllum and sure enough I found a tiny little bud growing!! It'll be a while as it's only about 1/4" long today.

Had another Brugmansia bloom. This was supposed to be 'Isabella', but I'm wondering if I managed to mix tags on the cuttings and it's really 'Tequila Sunrise' which was one of the cuttings. What do you all think? In any case, it sure didn't change to pink and never went through a white stage at all. There is a faint pink wash over the yellow. The blooms are smaller than those of 'Eternity' which is just exploding right now. I can't wait to see 'Eternity' in the morning!

One of the Achimenes has finally decided to bloom. I don't know what's going on with them this year. This is usually finishing up now instead of just starting. This plant is about 3' in diameter for some perspective.

My favorite new plant this summer doesn't bloom - Nephrolepis biserrata 'Macho'. I'm going to count it anyway. Something bit off and totally removed a frond that was, well, a macho frond Big Grin over 3' feet in length. I don't know what did it and there was no sign of the frond to be found. That was the only damage. Next year I hope to get it situated in a much larger container. And if I can devise something to my liking, I'll elevate it up higher in the hopes that will prevent anything except Carolina wrens from getting into it.

That's the plan, but not 'til next spring. I have to overwinter it and inside winter space has become competitive real estate. Probably need one of those restrictive home owners association that can restrict who's allowed and who's not :). Your fern looks fantastic, but also would take up a huge amount of space. I wish you could rent little greenhouse modules like storage units nodding .

When we were up north last October, we visited AnnaZ in Wisconsin. She has a heated empty barn that she rents out space to overwinter neighbors' huge potted plants for the winter. She even picks up and delivers!

It was a brug morning here. The yellow one turned up the edge and 'Eternity' just made more noise than anything else. I see buds now on the Trycyrtis or 'Toad Lily' now. That means fall is on the way. I need to start thinking about reorganizing the porch and garage. Actually I just need to start doing it and forget the thinking. That never gets it done Smiling .

As hard as I've tried not to get or keep plants that are not winter hardy, I still find myself wondering what I'm going to do if we have a cold winter! I have my Oxypetalum, plus several Thanksgiving and Easter cacti and a few miscellaneous plants that I need to keep from freezing. Last year I just put them in the corner of the patio, next to the house and covered them with a frost blanket. Since we had such a mild winter, that worked, but if it gets really cold, I'll need to do more. I'm wondering about some large Christmas lights under the blanket.

Inside the house is a last resort, because our cat will eat anything green! Thumbs down

Christmas lights are my go to. But NOT the LED style. They have to be old fashioned lights. They are getting harder and harder to find. Check out the Dollar Stores for those. While you may lose some leaves in a hard freeze, at least your roots are still alive.

I did an Ideas page using a box and mulch. Christmas lights add more heat to those weaker tropical plants. Start looking for your supplies right now.

How big is that one, Cheryl? 'Eternity' has five more white blooms tonight, so in the a.m. there will be 10 on a relatively small plant. It does smell nice tonight!

I had one tree. Then suddenly 2 years ago there were 6! The trunks on all of them look the same age so I can't tell where I planted the original? I honestly don't know how they reproduced??? Confused And it doesn't have a name! Just "Pink NOID".

Last night was the night! It was so worth the wait! I stayed up until 2AM to get photos. I was expecting the scent to be stronger, but I probably didn't wait long enough for that. It did smell nice.
