Saw this guy in the back yard hunting mice. He never turned around to show me his tail...can anybody confirm for me please?

It surely is a Red-Tailed Hawk species but it is most likely a juvenile Kriderii (also spelled Krider's) which can be mistaken as a Harlan's Hawk.

If you ever get a photo of the tail and wing tips would be a big help.

Beautiful bird and great photo.
