Saw this guy in the back yard hunting mice. He never turned around to show me his tail...can anybody confirm for me please?

I'm no expert on birds but that is what it looks like to me.

Beautiful bird . I second a juvenile Red Tail.. The only one that kinda looks like it is a Coopers Hawk

It surely is a Red-Tailed Hawk species but it is most likely a juvenile Kriderii (also spelled Krider's) which can be mistaken as a Harlan's Hawk.

If you ever get a photo of the tail and wing tips would be a big help.
