It was the perfect day. Sometimes when we do the unexpected, even if it is only for a short time, we do more for ourselves than we could ever do with an itinerary and a plan. I only wanted to see my mountains, to smell the scents, to soak in the colors, to find my roots. That's all I wanted, all I needed. I crammed my heart full of memories, I found myself again.

This just sang to me.

So too, all of the pictures. I miss my mountains this time of year as well. Thank you for sharing!

I need those mountains, or those memories from time to time. Heck, I remember once I left here at 5:am and headed to my old mountain stomping grounds. Three hours later I took a short detour and ended up pulling in Vic's driveway, unannounced (something I never do). Freaked her and Hankster out but ended up staying half a day or so and coming home. I never made it the rest of the way; on that day they were my mountains, giving me a break, some refreshment, and an impetus to keep on keepin' on.

Sure am glad you got a taste of "the real", Sharon! And can'tcha just smell the wood smoke in the air real soon! Yay!

There's just something about going 'home', and if you can grab that feeling in one place or another, even in Vic's driveway, then that's just extra special. Maybe I'll try Vic's driveway someday too, and from there we might just findd our way on over to MoonDance Farm. Ya just never know.

Mary, you sure have your own set of mountains, don't ya. All those trail rides over hill and vale, up and down. Lots different than the Apps but no doubt "your" mountains.

And Trish, I was just thinking as I woke up this morning, if I'd thrown a rock from the top of my mountain straight down, it might have landed right there on top of yours when you were growing up. If I could have thrown a rock that far!

I don't think I said so up above, but I can hear the longing in your words too.

I won't be in the mountains today, but close. More like hills. But when I see that morning mist and those lovely colors, I'll think of you.

Yes, we do have Mayapples and I "think" we have trilliums.

Mid to end of April here just screams color - azaleas, red buds, dog woods, and all those "springy" type things. It never ceases to amaze me.
