I am very, very careful not to hit that new 'Report' button when I 'star' a post, because I am afraid of 'reporting' one of you by accident! D'Oh!

Is there a way to 'take it back' if it is done by mistake??

Lilli - yes, it has a fail safe, it asks you if you really want to make a report. This is to protect from mistakes, and also to keep people from abusing the system. There is a full explanation by Dave in the Site Talk forum.

My fingers are always touching the wrong icons. I'm really glad there is a fail safe feature.

I know this thread topic was a little while ago, but a baking soda paste neutralizes bee/wasp venom within seconds. It has to be applied soon afterwards. I have a micro current Dolphin brand device. It's nice to know it releases bug bite itching. Thank You!

I always felt comfortable with all you folks, but it was easier for me to back away and not participate in the forum, rather than be constantly irritated and made uncomfortable by one person.

I'm sure it was a hard decision to make for those who complained. I've chatted with most of you for a while now, and I think of all of you as kind and generous folks, so I know this wasn't a matter of anyone just being mean-spirited.

Sherry -- I'm so glad that you brought this up. It is a shame that she just didn't *get it*, as you said. But the forums feel totally different now that she is gone -- has anybody else noticed that? Like the tension is gone. Everybody is happy!!! Hurray!

I completely agree with you Sherry. I felt the same way you did, but quite frankly, I was moving towards making a complaint or opening a discussion with the admins to alleviate the situation (I had considered writing to Betsy about it, but felt I would not have made an argument that would have taken root - yes, pun intended). The interesting thing about it; the "software" kicked her off. There is an algorithm within the software that "kicks you off". It is automatic. Very interesting

I'm interested to know what would activate the software? It it words or sentences? Number of posts? It seems like it would have to be pretty sophisticated to read emotions? I'll admit to being a bit of a bonehead in this dept.

The system bans you only after a number of reports are sent. Dave said that in this instance there were not only a number of reports, but that those reports were from a number of different people. So if one member had a beef with you and reported you a number of times, then it is unlikely that you would be banned. If there were reports from several members about you then you would be banned. But, at least in this case - and I bet probably in any future cases, it appears that Dave reviewed the reports and the posts before the final decision was made.

I am probably going to regret commenting on this issue at all. I'm not sure when it all started and I don't think I read all of the offending posts. Recently, it just sort of erupted into my notice on the Goners thread. I am always sorry when things come to this point.

I have/have had a number of rescued dogs and horses who have/have had a lot of emotional baggage as a result of their life experiences. Fear/insecurity was the result of the previous abuse, but when something tripped their trigger that fear manifested as aggression (fight rather than flight). Betsy reminded me of them. I could not help but feel sorry for her so obvious pain. I realize that this forum is not a "people rescue" and that some members felt personally attacked in what had previously been a safe and comfortable space. The worst part is, I think she was incapable of processing the feedback others tried to give her on her behavior because if she were, she probably would have resigned in mortification at the reprimands. I know I would have. I don't know what I'm trying to say, just that it makes me feel sad.

Well Lyn -- I hope you don't regret making your post. You certainly are entitled to your opinion, as is everyone else here -- and that was always the base issue. No one has the right to force you to see things their way -- and to challenge you for feeling the way that you do, etc. No one did that to her. She did that to everyone who tried to make her understand that her overbearing, heavy-handed way of responding to people was unacceptable. You could be right -- that she was incapable of processing the feedback -- but there wasn't anything that anyone could do about that. It just became a big cloud of gloom that descended over the forum. Several people have mentioned that they were reluctant to even come and read the forums. That just shouldn't be. This *used to be* a happy place -- she changed that. And within hours of her being gone, the mood of the entire forum has lightened up, and it's becoming a happy place again.

I completely agree with you -- it is sad. But it needed to be resolved, and it was.
