Best id is if you look under the leaf and there are two little raised dots on either side of the base.
It is a highly invasive plant that will take over your property when it seeds. The seeds are very pretty because of their yellow color and maple seed like form. But they have a stinky aroma and their seeds will take and if you cut without treatment it will sprout very readily from the roots.
A place I worked at had such a problem with it, eventually they had to go with either girdling and spray, or painting their cut-stumps. Even then it is a continual monitoring, knocking off the suckers afterwards.
Sumac is a native look alike, but it is also very clonal, though the birds seem to love the fruit.
