I posted some of these Adenium obesum for sale on FB. I had no idea what price to put on them, so hopefully my guess won't be embarrassing low or high. FB is a good place to start "testing-the-water" when I have something new to sell.

I'm sorry Tin. So far, the three plants that have flowered have had pretty much the same red with yellow throat flowers. These are all obesum, grown from seed donated to me by @Ursula. This photo was taken of the first blooming plant on Aug. 10.

The color is very similar to the first two that bloomed but the petals are more frilly (is that a word?). I guess now that this single-stemmed, "Green Giant" is blooming, it will also begin to branch. So far there are three stems with buds.

@Ursula was kind enough to send me those obesum seeds which started by fascination with Adenium. I had never grown a single one before. I love the flowers on my plants but wonder whether it is possible to get different colored flowers using seeds from other sources (or from you, Ursula)? Are seeds readily obtainable and is there a way to know that different flower forms/colors will be true to the seeds? I still won't be able to grow many of these plants, they do take up space, but seeing different colored flowers (yellow for example) would be a real treat.

Ken, I can't answer that, having only grown those three plants I mentioned. But others have shown different colors and they have shown seedlings which were supposed to be other than the pinkish reddish blooms.

Btw, I just counted seven seed horns starting to grow ......

Wow, Ursula. You are once again going to be loaded with seeds. Kadie is sending me some of her super-duper seeds, so if I can germinate them and grow the seedlings, perhaps I'll end up with some interesting colors. My "Green Giant" is going to be loaded with flowers. Hurray!

Ken, some of the growers like Riona and KO are doing much better at getting more flower colors true to the parent plant. But some flowers still come out different. At another forum I asked them to post flowers from seed. they posted what the seeds were suppose to be and what they got. They were a lot of variations. Even year to year of blooming. Still pretty and not just pink. Singles, doubles and triples of nice size also.
Ramon on Facebook shows how to pollinate the adenium's to get the same flower but he isolates the plant when in bloom. I was wondering if we could do the same thing.

Thanks for the info., Marica. That's the same with any plant that you want to control pollination with. I just don't have the space, the facilities (isolation and sterility), or the time to do this sort of thing. Growing my first Adenium has been fun and interesting, but these plants won't be a big part of what I grow. I just have too many tropical plants as it is, 1000+ at any one time.
