How can that be? Everyone needs tomato plants. nodding Hilarious! Hilarious!

In Ken's defense -- he DOES grow something like a million orchids and other tropical plants... and garlic, to sell; not like he's really slacking by foregoing the tomatoes this year Smiling

I didn't realize the earth boxes were so large, just glanced at them (and the price) and thought, wow. Jo Ann, what an interesting covenant of 'no fences' - seems fencing is the first priority for most developments. My brother was in a development which had a very nice wooded greenbelt directly behind his tiny back yard, and he immediately put up a 6' solid fence for reasons that totally eluded me... But to each their own. BTW, your containers all look lovely.

Years ago I was asked where I lived. At that time it was a different part of town. Anyway, when I said it, one person immediately described it as roughneck because all the yards had fences. Left me scratching my head. He then noted that they don't have fences in any of the neighborhoods near him. I think, I would need a thorny longitudinal plant bed!!! Always looking for interesting plants for pollinators and food! Bonus points for highly, and pleasantly scented plants.

I just googled EB reviews and opened a page from the other gardening website.
There are many reviews many positive and 12 negative and some neutral.
Most negative reviews were problems with shipping and customer service. These went back as far as 2005.

I had been looking for crop performance. I just cant understand why my tomato crop is such a disappointment.
The slicing toms are the size of golf balls and it's September already.
My daughter with the same plants is giving away half of what she harvests. I have had none.
I almost think the fert. is too strong and the plants, while huge aren't producing much.
I did as the directions said and put it down the middle.
Next year I will spread it along the sides.

Jo Ann, with your experience (and disappointment) I think I would incorporate something like Osmacote into the soil at the time of planting. Then, every time you water or it rains, the plants will get a bit of fertilizer.

Ken, That is a great idea. I used Osmocote in my coleus containers and I like it.

Even though I fertilize with water-soluble fertilizer, I incorporate Osmacote in all my custom potting mixes. I not only get the slow-release fertilization but also the boost of the water-soluble fertilizer. It seems to work well for me.

I do the same. Osmacote goes into all of my mixes. I've used it for many years with only good results.
