I'm in Illinois and was thinking of getting some irises from his sale. I'm very new to gardening, and haven't ever planted them before. Is it too late in the season for me to be doing this?
northern or southern IL ? It is on the way to getting late if you are in the north. You can put a rock or a brick on top of your rhisome to prevent heaving.
You should still be alright , as far as "survival", planting now, but , odds are, you won't get much bloom next year. I'm a *little* colder than you, and I figure the "survival" date is Sept. 15th (having enough of a root system to make it through the winter).

I've seen nothing but great reviews and if you all vouch I might as well see for myself.
Liz, How do you become "friends" with Beaumont Ridge Iris? I only see the Like button. Maybe Facebook doesn't have the friend feature for commercial entities?
Ivor, I had the same question as you. I couldn't see anyplace to "friend" on the commercial FB page. Anyhow, I just started looking through the albums and marking the ones I wanted. Timothy (Beaumont Ridge Iris) sent me a friend request a few minutes later. Hope this helps.

It is too late for this year's sale. But, I think if you go into your own account and then to Beaumont, you will be able to ask to be friended. Before I worked that out, I send a message from his account to him asking to be friended.
