The lye soap works good, also Fels-Naptha bar soap but there are products designed to remove the Urushiol oil from surfaces like the door handle on the car, the car seat, steering wheel, emergency brake handle, the clothes you were wearing on that day, your shoes, etc.
I use the brown Fels-Naptha and go wash immediately if I think I might have gotten Poison Ivy on my skin. Always works. And It will help dry out the oil blisters that are on the skin if you already have poison ivy. But works best to simply stop you from breaking out if you wash right away.
