Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Canadian Border Patrol')

I planted a double fan of Canadian Border Patrol in my daughter's garden in Salt Lake City last year in April. Here is a picture of the clump blooming away in early July this year, it's second year in the ground. It has done well, to say the least. The flowers are a little the worse for wear in this shot after days of rainy weather.

Canadian Border Patrol was new to my garden this year. It grew very well but didn't bloom. Wait till next year.

I have my CBP on the side of my house where it only gets approx 4 hours of direct sunlight per day. Bloom looks great but plant is slow to increase. I would assume this is a factor effected by the low number of sunlight hours. I may move it next year and see how it performs.

I've had CBP now for a number of years. I can't remember when I bought it. It always performs well and has grown so much I think I'll have a hard time digging it up to divide. Full sun all day.

Looks great how fertile is it?

I have had Canadian Border Patrol for many years, before I started recording year of purchase. It has never been a stellar performer for me. The clump is still medium size. It was moved to a more protected spot 2 years ago but that has not made much difference. It has a low bud count, scapes about 24" high and this year, had 4 scapes. I keep it because of the name and the bloom. The blooms always look the same, held above the foliage and, for a couple of weeks, adds color to that corner of the garden.

I have had Canadian Border Patrol for a few years and have seen very few blooms, very pretty when it does bloom .

Grows well here, but this year, along with many others, did not do much. Multiplies well. Reblooms many years. Performance has been uneven the last few years--not surprising given the weather vagaries. I would say that it may not do well in zones above here (6a), but there are so many factors other than zone temperatures. A few years ago we had a very cold winter with hardly any snow cover, and gardeners far north of here had fewer adverse winter impacts than we did.

Six inches seems a bit bigger than the blooms here.

Great grower here near Seattle. I got it because it was on a list of best daylillies for the Seattle area. I am Zone 8, but it's a cool summer area, not like zone 8 in TX!
Not incredibly showy, but coordinates with maroon well.
I also find my blooms are not 6", but maybe they would be bigger if I put a bit more effort (water, fertilizer) into them.

I have enjoyed Canadian Border Patrol for two years now. It is not my showiest flower, but it was the first one to bloom in my garden this year and one of the final blooming varieties I had as well. My clump had multiple reblooms this year. It was also one of my most prolific pod setters. I am not overly interested in the using it for my breeding lines but I wanted to get some seeds I could use to practice different germination methods. It did not disappoint with setting pods. My clump gets 5-6 hours of sun per day and has multiplied since last year.

I have had this one for many years. Love the flowers, but here, It has miserable evergreen type foliage in spring. Has a general unwillingness to increase, and is a wee bit tender. It's always "on notice", then it blooms. 'Moonlight Masquerade', does better here
