Just wanted to let all the folks adding new entries & proposing the details to not take it personally when something initially gets declined.
There are good reasons, either the entry already exists or many of the details are incorrect. Some of these plant specific databases came over from Cubits where the owners already had details in place the way they envisioned them, they take great pride in the database, as they should and Dave has been gracious enough to allow those details to remain and even expanded upon them when he transferred them over here. We all want this database to be
the place to go for all folks searching for images and info, we want it to eventually surpass everything else out there, in terms of details and features, and most notably for the search function!
While declines don't happen that often, moderators try to tactfully explain why a proposal was declined with detailed reasons, perhaps also citing examples, referrals or links so that it becomes a learning process. Sometimes a moderator links one of the completed existing entries to see what kind of details are needed, that way a contributor can now refer to that for the useful details needed for any future entries.
With that in mind, as everyone contributes to the database, please allow it to be a learning process for all of us, something exciting to be on the ground floor for and not something negative to complain about. Just keep positive, and ask questions if there is something that you don't understand rather than take it out on the moderator.
Don't take it personally, don't get too serious about it, have fun creating and contributing to this monstrous project, then we all can be proud of the hard work everyone has put into it!
