This plant is taking over my plot. Is it good for anything?

It is growing in the community plot, and nobody here knows what this plant is; and it is taking a lot of resources; it has grown to about 8 feet in three months (!)

The leafs are about 10 inches from stem to tip. The flowers are bright red/orange, about 3-4 inches in diameter.

I think it is Tithonia.
