I had a lily that bloomed for me this year that was labelled Oriental-Asiatic (FIRST CROWN). What I wanrt to know does it fall into Division 1 (Asiatic), Division 7 (Oriental) or Division 8 (consists of all hybrids that do not fit into the other groups). It doesn't say its a Longiflorum Oriental-Asiatic but maybe its Division 5. Any Suggestions.....

There isn't hardly anything these days that can't be crossed, so Div. VIII ought to be broken down somehow. Saying that a lily is a Div. VIII still doesn't tell you what it is!

Yes, it is confusing... that's why I look at the register. When I see unknown x this and that x unknown and seedling such and such # X I then know exactly what it is. LOL! At least if I know the parents registered names I can work back on the pedigree. Just don't expect a whole lot of effort from the Dutch.

I have seen talk of breaking down Div 8 but that would be in the future some time and certainly difficult to decide how to do it. Div 8 is a dumping ground.
