Thread OP

I have purchased a mid-1970's aluminum frame lord and Burnham blue ribbon century greenhouse that was already dis-assembled. I am looking for someone who may already have one that is currently assembled. My GH is 40 ft wide and 120 ft long. I have no drawings to help me assemble this structure. I have already tried the NYBotanical society library with no positive results. I am hopping to acquire measurements from an existing greenhouse to help me assemble mine. Does anyone know of a private or public source for an existing greenhouse of this brand and model or a place I may be able to find old line drawings. Thanks your your time in this matter...Bill

I know this is an old post but I'm trying to find some info about our matching greenhouse in Lexington MA. Were you ever able to find drawings?

Sorry, I can't believe I can't find better pics than the two I've attached. Tells me I need to get over there and take some.

Thank you for your response. I'm sorry I haven't come to this web site for some time now. I never found drawings so I measured all of the pieces. This helped me discover all of the dimensions and decipher the arrangement of all of the pieces. The key pieces were the roof peak beams. Most lord and burnham peak beams were all the same length. I have three different lengths. 6'-3", 8'-3" and 10'-3". My greenhouse also had two inner wall in the center of the building for support and to create a boiler room. The central location of the boiler must have been for efficiency reasons. I have not been able to find out what year or years my structure was manufactured. Although the commercial models made of aluminum seem to have been build after WW2 and more likely in the 1950's. I have only found one other structure with the same roof configuration. The Cleveland zoo had one. Mine has free span trusses with an outside measurement of 42'. The entire frame is made of aluminum I-Beams. 6" by 4". I have created detailed drawings if anyone needs help I would be happy to give advice and try and help provide clarity. I have contacted all of the greenhouse manufactures that use the Lord and Burnham name. None were helpful in the end unless I was willing to pay them to fly out and then pay them to measure the structure themselves. Drawings could be supplied along with recommendations for upgrades for a substantial sum. Looking through internet pictures helped piece together the structure along with an installation booklet purchase from someone selling a much older Lord and Burnham greenhouse on ebay. Although different in many simple ways this booklet allowed me to figure out what some of the very odd parts were and the locations of mounting brackets for window operating motors and rack and pinion shafts. [email protected] if you would like to converse further. Best regards
