no Menage a Trois , but I did get a shot of a male trying to seduce a female black st
in front of the very fennel I hope she lays her eggs on , but she seems more interested in wandering around the yard

Jack, that's a Gray Hairstreak, and please do tell us what it's on. Some kind of Agastache?

My bed swallowed me whole today. I think I might go make a pot of tea and see if that helps.

Thank goodness I proofread. I originally told Jack he had a Gray Swallowtail. Rolling on the floor laughing I think I'm going straight for the B-12 shot. This requires something stronger than caffeine. Hilarious!

pretty , it does look like agastache-ish. I was thinking butterfly bush but the leaves did not look right

Hilarious! Christine , I do think he has mentioned it in a previous post , it does sound familiar now that I thought about it.
Unfortunately my bed not only didn't swallow me , it rejected me after 5 hours and my batteries are a little low at the moment.
I'm tempted to curl up and go back to sleep but really should go out and water plants and finish mowing the lawn.

Hi there Donna - kind of hard to tell just yet. Any way you can go out and get another picture once the wings are open further?

But our resident expert, Melanie, will be able to tell you, probably from the husk of the cocoon behind it there.

Donna, jump in anytime! Is that the chrysalis you posted a few days ago that I think I commented on? I don't get Variegated Fritillaries in my yard, although I have seen them in Florida. But I've raised them at MOSI and that chrysalis did look like one and your butterfly there looks like one, too. Glad to see it emerged perfectly. Now send some my way! Hilarious!

Thanks Christine, I been finding the wild looking chrysalis all over the yard this year, and Melanie identified them for me...

Seems something has found all my disliked wild violets a splendid feast....

Well, that looks like a fritillary caterpillar. Thumbs up Although I'm not sure if it's Variegated or Gulf fritillary.
