The cats had this dude surrounded yesterday afternoon... Gathered up the cats, put them inside... shut the door gave everybody catfood and gave the rattlesnake enough time to leave...

Coleus continues to attract countless bees & butterflies, and red spider/hurricane lilies (Lycoris radiata) are doing their thing! It's fun to see where they come up, I can't remember where-all I've plunked them by now.

Autumn Joy Sedum is coming into its best part of the year. I use it in pots, in the ground, and start new ones from broken stems very often. I have finally been able to add photos after having wifi problems.

It's hard to find things flowering right now, but I have a few.


Cypress Vine this is a reseeding son of a gun. The original planting was in 1995!


Hedychium Pink Sparks. First time blooming. I'm underwhelmed.


Toad lilies are starting to bloom! A little blurred.


Ornamental sweet potato in the Big Jerry bed. He's been eyeing this monster for din din but I don't know how edible it is.

And finally the castor plant. I took the photo from the ground this time instead of out the window. It's to the bottom of the windowsill.


Just gotta post a photo of these babies too. Black Swallowtail caterpillars. Enlarge the pic to see them all!

Somebody posted some of these to show how dry it was in her garden...


Even the container isn't saving them... and it holds water when it isn't full of sand...



Planting them in a rigid pond container works a lot better...

It has been extremely dry here lately, and the trend continues for the foreseeable future.
Still there are a few things churning out the blooms.
Vinca and Phlox:


Canna still blooming:

Confederate Rose: White when fresh then changes color as the bloom ages: It appears to attract a lot of different insects.


The Colus has held up well in the dry weather:

The Caladiums, Hostas, and Ferns make a good combination I think.You can tell I haven't sprayed the hostas in months.

Last round of Zinnias...

Lots of swamp sunflowers are still blooming as well as zinnias and Mexican sunflowers.
