Bill Maryott has put a notice on his website today that September will be the end of sales. Schreiners (an iris merchant) will take over sales of his intros. He will continue in a hybridizing capacity only.

I will miss his website so much! There has never been a more generous seller.

I think Bill is 82 or 83 now. It will be interesting to see what Schreiner's does with his inventory.

Sad to hear he is turning it over but glad someone is continuing with his stock and will continue to sell his introductions for him.

NOOOOOOOO...I just found his amazing business...there truly isn't anyone I have found who does it better or whose flowers take off so easily in my garden.

Bill had super prices and a great selection, and sent extra bonus plants. I'm sure it was a great deal of work, and I wish him all the best... and more free time to do it in! I can honestly say that
I wish I had his energy even now at his age. He is the greatest example of our hobby.

Deryll - I agree about Bill's energy. I wish I had half of it.

This may be obvious. Since Bill's prices are great, and it is unknown if these cultivars will sell for the same prices elsewhere, someone should be investing on Bill's cultivars for future sale.

Well I guess that I might just have to go place another order......

I loved ordering from Maryotts. Sad news, but understandable.

Maryotts was one of my favorite hybridizers that I ordered from. I am going to really really miss them. But, I also love the iris I get from Schreiners

I was not planning to purchase any more this year from a business .... trying desperately to stick to my budget.

Well, that prompted me to take a look at their current available lists to break my plans ( and I was showing such stern self-control that I was proud of myself) but I now have to give in, to place a final order with Maryott's. What a bummer they are quitting the business, but I do understand! I have had excellent luck with the ones that I got from them last year (my first and only order). Two were very special cultivars that I got, that bloomed last Fall and again this Summer! They give bonus plants per your suggestion, so that helps you to add more to your list.

Bill is a great guy! I hope that he and Marilyn can enjoy their "retirement" (hybridizing is still a lot of work!).

After I read this thread, I just put in a final order with him (for three of his intros, and one other daylily that looked interesting).

Now I have to find 4 more daylilies to discard, to make room...

Oh, no! But oh good for Bill and Marilyn! This is my first year as a gardener, and I ordered 11 daylilies (including bonus) from Maryott's. I would order a bunch more if I could get a new bed quick enough! I'm sorry he's out of the selling end but glad to hear he's keeping up with his hybridizing!

I just had to place an order too. So today I had to order a new raised bed so I have someplace to put them. I was so pleased with myself for only adding 3 new daylilies this year. Oh well. Next year I won't add any, I promise!

I just heard that this is Bill's last sale EVER .. I LOVE Bill he is my favorite seller almost every daylily I have
is from Bill Maryott . I have always wanted to meet him. He has been so nice to me over the years . I hope he gets
to do everything he wants with his retirement .

Boy am I going to miss him ...

I have met him a few times when he came to FL Mecca. He seems like a really nice guy.
