recently bought a jasmine that is supposed to be "improved" from sambac variety, and it doesn't have as many deformed blossoms as the former one does.

the trade name is summer soul and here is a picture of my plant's blossom as well as the tag from the nursery.

The system probably didn't accept your proposal because you used the wrong botanical name. Arabian Jasmine is the common name. The genus is Jasminum.

Daphne, try entering it by filling in the information like this:

Primary common name: Arabian Jasmine
Accepted botanical name: Jasminum sambac
Cultivar name: Summer Soul

Then click on Proceed to Step 2 and it will go into a queue for the moderators to approve. You will get a system message once approved.

You were right, Lin, except that Summer Soul is followed by a trademark symbol on line, so it's the trade name, and the cultivar name is Monhariklia. Also, the species (sambac) shouldn't be initial capped on the line for the botanical name.

@zuzu. i will enter into my plant data base. and thank you @plantladylin for the correction on "how to enter" info still new and finding my way around.

A tip to see how to enter new plants to the database is to open an existing one. You can click on the Edit Plant Name to see how it's entered, checking what line to use, the punctuation, etc. Just back out of it when you are done.

I corrected my earlier post where I capitalized the species name. I do know that the species name is always lower case, I just apparently forgot to preview before hitting send.
