I've been occasionally getting the notification that new replies were made before the one that I was typing was finished, and when I go back to the thread there actually weren't any other new ones. Has anyone else had this happen recently? (I've just noticed it in the last week or so; maybe something to do with @Dave working on the programming?)

I think I saw it happen myself, actually. I'm trying to track down what is causing it. Problem is, it's so inconsistent, and that makes it hard to track down.

Yes, it's been very inconsistent for me too. Not a big deal IMO, just wasn't sure if I was accidentally doing something that was causing it (always a possibility in my mind).

Yes, it happened to me also. I just assumed I was old and doing something wrong. *Blush*

@dave, Is there anything we can do to help you track it down when it occurs?

I don't think so Greene. I just need to do some experimenting with it.

It may not be related, but what I've started seeing in the last several weeks is that a thread indicates 'new' posts have been made after I've been reading on a forum. Then when I've gone back to check, I'd already read the last post. This isn't a notification like I get when I've been writing a new post and someone posts to the thread before I've finished. This is when I'm catching up on new posts in a forum and then hit the home button. That used to clear out the 'new' beside the forum. Today I read several threads and when I hit home and went back, it still said there were new unread posts. It only left one thread marked as having a new post, but I had just read it. I've read as many as 8-10 posts in a forum and only one might not clear out the new. If I hit the home key again, it will then clear out the 'new'. Just started occurring very recently.

I've seen Donald's issue but not Sandy's.

Tentatively, the "NEW" label is always accurate the first time I go into a forum during a visit to NGA/ATP.
But if I go into a forum and back out, the "NEW" label is often incorrect. (I do jump back and forth quickly.)

I've been having the same issue as Donald. Are we just so overloaded that it doesn't catch up?

Seeing both issues. Figured it was:
1. system not catching up - or -
2. my being new at this whole trip and having unrealistic expectations
- or -
3. my glaucoma.

@dave - I should probably mention that this is occurring in the latest version of Firefox (v48.0.2) on both Windows 7 and 10.

Both effects were happening to me too. I wondered if it was happening to anyone else. I cleared my cache for NGA, signed out & then signed back in. That was a few days ago. I haven't had the problem since.
Now watch, it will happen again just because I said it was fixed for me.
I'm using Safari.

Unfortunately I've seen the issue intermittently reoccur even after clearing my cache.
