Welcome! Can you tell us where it is growing, and whether it is cultivated or wild? It looks cultivated from the background. I'm going to suggest moving this question to the Plant ID forum.

I wondered about Anchusa as well, also Lithospermum, but didn't see a match. The petals look lobed and not entirely symmetrical (hence Hetty's suggestion of Lobelia I assume). If we could get a close-up of the flowers and some info on location it might help unless someone recognizes it from the plant shot.

The flower is just like a dampiera but the foliage is different- it is cultivated and growing in mooroolbark, Melbourne Victoria- it's in a sandy loam soil

Indeed the flower is like a Dampiera. I did a Google search checking images of different Dampiera and there were several with leaves that looked close to yours. I wouldn't want to single one out though, it's not a plant I am familiar with.

They are all in Oz. Perhaps one of them has an idea.

Welcome to NGA @Nath10154 Welcome! I am not very good on temperate plants, alas. Bron might know.

I'm wondering why not Dampiera, some look pretty close to me, here's one example:

Hi Nath
When I saw the pic I immediately thought dampiera. Sue is on the ball as always. The blue is vibrant. They like good drainage. I would propagate some cuttings as they can die suddenly. I had one once for a while. But yours looks great and very happy.

I found this https://www.anbg.gov.au/gnp/gn...
