I planted a bunch of amaryllis bulb in my yard last winter . several came up and flowered a few months later. suddenly last week there were a bunch of flower stems coming up again. I am dumbfounded because instead of red amaryllis they are weirdly beautiful white spider like flowers !! can you explain ? or can you identify this flower ?
First, where are you? Lycoris are red spider lillies, Hymenocallis are white spider lillies. Some of these are actually natives in the Carolinas and south. So, do you remember which one you planted?
So many roads to take, choices to make, and laughs to share!
Their foliage does look exactly like amaryllis foliage so if there were some planted in the same area where you put your amaryllis, that may have caused the mixed blooms. Here are a couple of pictures of my plants. Their foliage does die back in winter, too.

Hi Willow81! Did you get your bulbs from a store? Both the red hippeastrum/amaryllis and the Peruvian daffodil are big bulbs. They bloom at different times of the year. If the came from a store there is a possibility that this white one was mixed up in your red amaryllis, and now is its bloom time. May you have a joyful month!
