Old Mailbox for Tool Storage

By 1AnjL

Decorate an old mailbox with paint and place it in your garden. It is a great place to store gloves and hand tools, and it also looks pretty.

A neighbor had one of these in her yard, kind of hidden away. It is useful to keep that extra pair of clippers etc.

Great tip! I have two of them.

Here is one located outside what was then my 'no work' garden...

And here it is years later when the 'No Work' garden was turned into "Hankville", my garden of boxed beds. NOTE: see how the mailbox has aged and rusted compared to the pretty blue paint job when first installed? A lesson learned to keep some paint handy, eh?

I love it, Shoe! Very nice.

We found an old mailbox at a garage sale a couple years ago and Trish bought it for this very purpose! It's waiting for me to install it. I better get to that!!

Several years ago when we had to replace our mailbox we moved the old one into the back yard mounting it on a post with potted plants sitting next to it. Inside there are garden tools. I love the look of a mailbox in the backyard. Thumbs up

Yeh, I think I posted that mailbox man (aka "Gizmo Man", don't ask me why that photo was called that!) on one of your first Garden Art forums.

It was fun to make, using this and that...whatever was available. And useful, too!

Shoe (up entirely too late again. Some folks I know will be getting up in 30 minutes to start their day. Sheesh....)

Christine, just trying to get ya'll to follow Anjil's suggestion and snatch up some mailboxes when you can!

Yep, Vic, "Hankville" is in all my garden notes! Those boxes are holding up great, too!

I'll go look at ya'lls other link. (Got over an inch and quarter of rain last night, more coming, so I can dally in front of the computer for a while.)

Shoe, get a can of blue spray paint and "touch up" that poor mailbox. You'll get a hole in the top and your paperwork is gonna get soggy....
Great Idea with mail box. I use mine to keep goldfish food dry.

I wouldn't have thought of putting a mailbox in the garden (decorated or otherwise) but it would be perfect for storing gloves and such!!

So now I'll be looking for some old mailbox to snatch up! ! Hilarious!

Be careful, I had one and for some reason the wasps and hornets loved to build nests insid the mailbox. Grumbling
