Well, Shawwannda, I like the way you think about wildflower vs weeds. I've been saying for years that I Do-Not see any weeds, except the Bermuda grass!! Big Grin

No, Bermuda grass is an obnoxious (to me) grass that grows all over the south and other places. It does actually have a use as golf course turf. Imagine that. I guess you have to give it its due. Angry

It does, however, spread everywhere with it's long runners, deep roots and seeds. It invades my flower beds and loves to "visit" from the neighbor's yard every chance it gets. Once established, it's one tough bugger to remove. In fact, almost impossible. Bane of my gardening existence!

MINE TOO! Bane of my existence definitely describes how I feel about this obnoxious grass!! I've been trying for years now to get it out of my cottage garden... it's still winning the war. I haven't given up! Just not quite sure what my next move will be.

Shawwannda, lucky you that you don't know about the devil grass (It call it something else- but not nice to say in public)! Hilarious!

Probably a Stickleaf...Mentzelia is the genus, but I don't know which species grow in your state.

I think it is Mentzelia laevicaulis, but there are a lot of Mentzelia species in the West and it's not a genus I know very well, so take that for what it's worth.

What I long ago learned about Mentzelia is that the leaves...and sometimes other parts of the plant...stick very well to your clothing and shoes if it gets a chance. Many a time I had to try to get them off my shoes, socks or pants. Not easy! Sometimes it helps to wait until the leaves dry out.
