This is from top. I think it is a Bromaliad of some sort.

It has a baby and I just transplanted it, I brought it in for the winter.

Yes, a Bromeliad ... one of the Aechmeas, I think, but I'm not entirely sure which one. Tiger Stripe? Perhaps someone else can narrow it down further. Nice specimen.

It is a rough textured plant. Nothing soft about it but very pleasing to look at.

Yes, the Aechmea Bromeliads have toothed edges on the leaf margins and some can be very leathery and rough textured. I just can't pin this one down to a variety name off the top of my head.

I'll show it to some of my Aussie folks, they will know. They got these things growing all over down there. Wouldn't you love to see Australia with all it's unique plants and animals??? I sure would.
