Thread OP

Hey guys! My neighbor was moving and I snapped up this great tree, but I'm not sure what it is (she had no clue). I'd like to know so I know how to take care of it.

It's about 4.5 ft tall, and I live in Iowa if either of those things help!

Also (if anyone DOES know anything about this kind of plant) some of the leaves are browning on the ends. Should I leave them? Trim them?

I want to encourage it to grow up instead of out if possible :)

Thanks!

Looks a bit like a schefflera of some sort. But I could be wrong. It also looks thirsty. Have you checked the soil to see if it's dry?
Confidence is that feeling you have right before you do something really stupid.

Yes, looks like it might be the bigger one, S. actinophylla (vs. S. arboricola.) More light = more upright.

Yeah! I watered it right when I got it home. I think she had a tendency to forget about it, hence the droopy-ness.

Thanks for the ID guys! I think you're probably right.
