I have never had a camellia but would love to have one. I see them growing and blooming into our winter months here in 7b. Can they be rooted or grown from seed? If so, how? Thanks!

Yes they can be grown from seed. However it will be a long time before you have a blooming plant.

They can be rooted also, summer is the best time to take cuttings but it can be done in early fall also. I love your avatar pic Thumbs up How many different hats do you have?

Thanks for the information. I will try to root some next summer. I love camellias and am amazed at how they bloom here even in December.

The avatar pic that I have up now is my granddaughter. She loves flowers and hats so she has a pretty good collection of them. The hat that she has on in my avatar was purchased when she was living in Thailand to shade her face from the sun. She said that they had some fantastic gardens there and from the pictures that was sent back to me, it would be a gardeners paradise. Lovey dubby

We are expecting our first little girl in about 2 weeks and she already has 4 little hats. Not to many little girls or women wear hats anymore but I love the southern belle look. Your last avatar was of you right? That's why I thought this was you too because you had a very elegant hat on in your last picture. My wife has a few hats but vary rarely uses them. They where her grandmother's and she don't want to get them dirty.
What all Camellias do you currently grow? If you'd like to swap some cuttings early next summer I have a NOID double pink Camellia and a burgundy one with a yellow center that may be "Yuletide" I can share with you.

Congratulations on your first little girl! You are going to love it! Mine is 9 years old but I never know what she will be into next, keeps me on my toes. Yes, the last avatar was of myself. Smiling I am not growing any Camellias at this time but do know of a couple of places that might let me have some cuttings. I think that they are a light pink and the other is a dark pink. If I do get some cuttings, I will let you know and would love to trade.
