Found a whole field of these in the desert not far from my house. Are these cylindropuntia bigelovii?

Yes, Teddy Bear Cholla. When they start to fall apart in the spring, you can pick up the pieces (use some sticks or tongs) and replant them in your cactus garden at home. Or just admire them from afar. Smiling
