You say you can't put hooks into the ceiling, but you can put up a 'temporary' beam. If you, or someone you know, is handy with a saw and hammer, use 2x4s to build a frame that you wedge between the floor and ceiling. Depending on the height, you can put in a cross beam to hold even more plants.
You could also put in a second, lower frame and put a piece of plywood across to make a display or potting shelf.
You're free to put in as many hooks as you want and can paint or decorate the frame to suit the environment.
Best of all, when you're ready to move, you can knock it down and take it with you to the new place.
