Pictures of that do not even begin to do it justice. I finally saw one "in the flesh" at a garden center...........it was $40 or thereabouts, and I was not going to part with that amount of cashola, so I drooled and kept walking. LOL

I've had two of the black ones. Both were birthday gifts, and I killed both of them by leaving them outside in the intense heat of summer two years in a row. You'd think I'd learn. D'Oh!

"If" I ever get another Tacca, I'll make sure to keep it damp. Losing the second one was soooo disappointing that I decided not to try again.

We have the vine at the Garden, I don't like the scent as much.
I'll keep an eye out for seed and will be happy to share.

This plant is called BatFace. Cuphea llavea. @mkb136 and @AnnaZ, up here I have had this one, it is not expensive and certainly not as exotic as your variety, but it sure would be fun to have at halloween, instead of summer, when I usually find it. It's sold to fill summer containers here.

Here's my Tacca chantrieri from a few years ago............

I gave it away in 2012 when I moved house. The new house had no conservatory and as a listed building there was no chance to add one. The greenhouse wasn't an option as it would nearly have filled it. They grow big - mine was five feet across when I let it go. Being from the tropical rainforests of Malaysia they love heat and humidity, dislike direct sun and drying out (as previously noted).
