It's really pretty, and may well be a world record for Phalaenopsis, but no way it's a record for all orchids.

Brendan you need to get out more - go to an orchid show near you when you get the chance. You'll see orchids (other genera) with hundreds and hundreds of flowers on them.

I took this picture years ago on a trip to a grower in Apopka FL. That's our friend Jim standing beside this enormous plant. The grower used to take it to orchid shows, hoisting it into the bed of a pickup truck with a power winch. It finally got too big even to do that.

I agree, this Phal is not that spectacular.
Google Japan Grand Prix Orchid Shows or Taiwan Orchid Show. Amongst other spectacular Orchids, not only the bloom count on those Phals are incredible, they are also lined up like roof tiles.
Thanks for posting Brenden! Smiling See what you made me look up, and now I am drooling over those gorgeous displays. No need to give you a precise link however, just look up those Shows!
