I like the odd stuff, mainly flowers:
Jelitto's
Plant World Seeds (just placed an order, hope it gets here in time for the swap)
JL Hudson, Seedsman
I kind of gave up on Thompson and Morgan, they got bought out and aren't so interesting anymore, they fired their plant breeders.

well JL Hudson's politics I think are a bit unusual (there is a little rant on the website about something I can't recall what oh yah maybe it was no credit cards or something like that) but the seeds are "mainstream" and are great and they have been very reliable.
The Plant World folks are actual plant explorers and breeders, a while ago they had a thing where you could send a bit of money to help sponsor a trip, and they would then send a selection of seeds for you to try and report on how they did! They sell Nicotiana 'Tinkerbell' their own variety which I absolutely love.

Agoo,

Don't be embarrassed. I suspected it was a gazania. But hey, never know when something comes around I haven't, lol. Thank you so much for trying though. That was very thoughtful of you. Smiling

Wow. Thanks for the heads up on a few of these. Never thought to try them honestly. For my list:

Swallowtail - Absolutely great selection and they will make it right if things go wrong.

Bluestone - Most times things go wrong, but they do make it right as well. Nice selection of plants/bulbs.

American Meadows - Don't think highly of their plants, but there are times they are the only one to carry something. I do trust to receive plants in good order though.

Easy to Grow bulbs - Nice Selection.

Sunshine Flower Seed - Nice selection. Not every day items.

Outside Pride - I like the amount I get for what I pay. Nice selection.

Eden Brothers - I've bought a couple of things. Mostly not my thing though.

Chiltern Seeds - They are from england. Great selection and prices. They also ship to the US.

Stokes Seed - Not a huge selection but I can find things there I can't in other places or a greater amount in seed is offered than somewhere else.

Rosy Dawn Gardens - Coleus. Only coleus. I do intend to purchase 3 plants from them this december. Kind of pricey but I can't find the seeds for the coleus I want anywhere so may as well buy the plants.

Longfield Gardens - I have not ordered from them but they have an astounding selection. So much so that they are pretty much sold out of the bulk of their things. I keep a close eye on them as I would like several things from them this year.

These are the places I'm most apt to buy from. I like what they offer, if I have any problems with the plants/seeds, all of them are willing to help and do what you would like done.

I'm cheap. Dollarseed.com and seedsnow.com have a fair selection of packets under a buck. Mostly common stuff, and obviously no rare plants, but great for more common items.

Dollarseed.com is down for a few weeks. Their seed room was vandalized and they're recovering.

Seedsnow is having a flash sale of $15 off $30 through midnight tonight.

I haven't even had a chance to look through the list yet of all of the wonderful seeds you guys have listed... I'm actually in a position where most of my extra seeds have been given out in past swaps and I'm wondering if I should place another big seed order just to have more seeds to swap with or not. Hmm...

This is what happens when I don't plant seeds in the spring. *Blush* no seeds from spring-planted plants and the bunnies ate all of my fall plantings except the chard and an oak-leaf lettuce I got from Rick... Neither of which have bolted in this cool weather, both fortunately and unfortunately. The only other successful crops I've had so far are potatoes (which don't qualify for the swap) and carrots which I aren't quite big enough yet (and are biennial... No seeds). Sticking tongue out

...But I DO have daylily seeds aplenty... Big Grin

Has anyone started any daylily seeds they have received from me in the past? I want to be sure the seeds I'm harvesting and sending out have good germination rates. If the germination rates are poor, I will look into altering my drying or refrigeration method.

Your welcome okieheart. I just tend to like off the beaten path in flowers around here. We live in a very small town and everyone knows I'm about the only house that gardens to this extent. With good reason. My hubby now has to build me a water source for next year.

Just today I was outside scouting my gardens for next year and what is left to do for this year and someone was sitting on the corner watching me. I get that alot, lol. They finally pulled up along behind me. I heard them so I knew my peace and quiet was over. They asked about quite a bit in my yard and my veggie garden. I'm overrun with tobasco peppers and I'm waiting on the men to rip up my garden. I have about 10 pepper bushes that need to be pulled. Lol, that man pulled him one. He wanted peppers so I told him he had to pull them. It's just kind of nice having things in my yard that make people stop and ask me what it is.

Dnd - I planted your daylilies. They germinated. I didn't have the first problem with them. Ok, just one problem. His name is Chuck, lol. But they came up when they were supposed to.

I know that parks seed is having a sale but I don't know on what. It might be worth looking into if you are looking for more seed. I try to keep an eye out here in that thread about sales and so forth. Someone is always posting a seed site/plant site sale.

DND I have seedlings from a couple of crosses I got from you last year so your seeds are fine.

I'm hoping to list more daylily crosses this weekend & next week. Most of my crosses will be dips since I've donated/swapped most of my tet crosses.

Thanks for the feedback, Karen, Jim, and Elena! Jim, I'm glad those Jim's Pick crosses worked out so well for you ;) I 'picked' them just for you! Karen, sorry to hear about Chuck, lol! My issue with my seedlings is the snacking resident bunny who has a taste for young daylily leaves (and daylily buds).

I'm sorry about your bunny libby. But, good to know also. Had mine made it through chuck, the bunnies would have gotten them. We had a mother birth 5 or 6 of them in rachales hosta bed I built her. I ran them out though. There is no getting around bunnies here. They are rampant. I just do my best to keep them happy and out of my gardens. We tend to plant a mini garden for them since we can't get rid of them. Makes it easier on my large garden.
