Thread OP

My husband surprised me with some beautyberry juice. He said he picked about 2gallon bucket . He washed and pureed the berries, stems included the put them in a cheese cloth and drained the juice. I was thankful he went to so much trouble because he knows I struggle with the preparation(I have back problems and cannot stand for too long at a time)...Anyway..... my question is, will the juice from this mashed up mixture of berries and stems be ok to use? I would have picked out the stems first, but did not have the heart to tell him.

I've never eaten berries or had juice from American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) but I'd use a tea strainer to strain any bits of stems and seeds before drinking but that's just my preference because I prefer juice without pulp, etc. If tiny particles are consumed, I'd think they would pass through your system.

You can scroll down the page on the above link I posted to read comments from members regarding the Beautyberry plant and I found the following article written by one of our members about making Jelly from Beautyberry: http://garden.org/ideas/view/g...
