Thread OP

I am looking for a perennial that looks similar to a dragon's breath. I live in Iowa and would like to plant on the East side of my house. If there a perennial that likes sun and looks similar to dragon's breath?

Hi and welcome - since I wasn't sure if this was a begonia (I have one called Dragon's ..something) or what, I put "dragon's breath" into our Plant Database. Can you tell us which of these is the plant you're referring to? Just click on the link to each of them to see pictures.

Dragon's Breath (Strobilanthes sinuata 'Acanthus')

Leopard Plant (Ligularia przewalskii 'Dragon's Breath')

Tropical Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Dragon's Breath') (well, I know it's not this one but it was interesting how many different plants had a cultivar called "Dragon's Breath" - there's a daylily and a few others as well)

I have a feeling that he/she may be referring to Celosia 'Dragon's Breath' since it has been marketed and sold widely this year.

If the bed has moist soil, Astilbe might work since being on the east side of the house would mean that it would get mostly morning sun. They will only bloom for a month or so, though.
