This fern has been growing next to the driveway for several years. Don't know if it is a houseplant discarded by the previous owners, a gift from the birds or possibly something that came with the wind or flood water. Shrug! It's in a 6 inch pot. Thank You!

It's been suggestion that this is an invasive climbing fern. Marking it solved. Thanks.

oooh, that one looks so familiar ... I know I've had that fern in the past. Let me go muddle through my pic's and see if I can find a comparison.

Well, I'm no help ... the one I was thinking of was Osmunda but it's not a match.

How about Lygodium? This one is invasive:

*Blush* Never mind ... not that one either. I'm so bad with ferns but I know I've seen yours before. Hopefully someone will recognize it and be able to offer an exact ID.

Your photos are good ... it's my eyes. Blinking I really need to have my cataracts removed, but I've just been lazy and haven't gotten around to making the appointment.

My eyes aren't the best either, but I'm wondering if it could be some kind of Phlebodium?

Live in a rainforest, get wet feet.
Plant Identifier
Yes Lygodium japonicum. It is an invasive fern of gardens, greenhouses, and houseplants. In Hawai'i if you have a garden you usually have to deal with the fast growing fern.

I appreciate the answers but it is neither fast-growing nor does it climb. It just sits there in the same place and has been the same size for several years.

I will mark this solved (as a climbing fern) but mine lacks the initiative to grow vertically. I'll move it to a new location and see if it starts to climb. Thanks everyone. Thumbs up

Hi @greene

Pteris cretica,
Brake Fern. They like terrariums, or bathrooms.
Such pretty little ferns. Lots of variagated varieties but I think yours is the prettiest.

Here is a pic.

@Plantladylin, If I lived near you I would get you in for your eye appointment. After the minor surgery, which you will giggle thru from the meds, you will feel good enough to go to lunch. It will change your life. Come to WA and I will take you. Great docs for it here. Make that appt. You will be so glad you did, I promise. Srry to get off topic. Whistling

@lauriebasler, LOL I'm not in fear of the cataract surgery at all ... just remiss in getting it done ... I'm so lazy! My sister just had cataracts removed a month ago and mine will be done at the same surgery center here in town. Her doc just retired last month but they have great eye surgeons in the practice ... I need to put on my Nike sneakers and Just Do It! ( I think that's the Nike slogan?) Green Grin!
