That only is there if you have added a certain amount of stuff to the database.

I just got on this morning, I thought I made great strides with the homepage yesterday, but Im not even going to go on today getting myself worked up. I have to stay away from the site until this far left thing is fixed. I dragged my screen over, so at least the text would be in the middle of the screen, now I cant get it back for everything else I do.

I'm not seeing ads and don't have them blocked. However, I do have an ad blocker app that I downloaded and that must be blocking all the ads here. I did that because of those ads that crawl across the screen on some news sites and never even noticed that it blocked them here Smiling .

LOOK...praise be, at least on the main forum pages, I have some ads on the right ( ill never go in pennys again, their adds will get your vertigo kicked up), takes up the space, but right under the ads, pictures, glorious pictures with nice colors. Its the recently added photos. OK now, looking like a garden page. At least the moving ads seem to be staying on those pages, I dont really mind a small still add.

I wondered about that at the time he allowed the threshold users to block them. At one time I think you had to click on the ads from within the sites for any financial credit, but that was a long time ago. I think that click was how an advertiser knew the ad were reaching an audience and from where.

I guess it doesn't make much difference if you download an ad blocker to your computer like I did. I still see ads, but not nearly as many and it apparently eliminated them from NGA completely. I was really after those obnoxious moving ads that aren't fixed on the screen in one spot. I'm not very fond of audio ads either Smiling . They make me talk to myself with bad language. Silent videos aren't so bad, but I'd prefer they stand still. I would never click on an ad that's 'in your face' by design.

I don't believe that being "chatty" counts. It's everything else that you would write something about, like a regional report, or an edit to the database for a specific plant. Or, adding photos to the database. It's easy to get to 100, and I know you can do it!

I think we need to click on the ads in order for Dave to get paid. If that isn't the case, please let us know! I don't have mine blocked on here, and never have, because of that. But, I never see ads because I have an ad blocker, due to some horrible moving ads on some sites. I can't handle those! If I could figure out how to unblock the ads here, I'd do that, and I'd also click on them like I used to before having them all blocked.

Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing A lot of web sites ask me to exclude them when I visit. Some block me from even viewing it unless I make an exception. So far, I haven't caved. Those awful active ads are ruining for other advertisers, I think. Though I guess even static photos could be offensive too.

Natalie - it could be worse Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Over the years I've learned to pretty much ignore ads (unless they are for plants and then they jump right off the screen, grab my hand and force me to put things in my cart Whistling Whistling Whistling Whistling ) so I'll just continue to ignore until I reach the threshold nodding nodding

Still getting used to the iPhone, but on my desktop it's great - Thanks Dave Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! Thumbs up Thumbs up What I'm wondering is, is how much of this I could have done before and just didn't know it until I had to start looking for things *Blush* *Blush* *Blush*

Happy to hear most everyone is finding their way around. I do like the subtle changes Dave has made since the first time I saw the site yesterday. Still having trouble getting used to the forum being all the way to the left, but I guess eventually that will be "normal". Everything works fine ..think I'm just missing all the color we used to have on the site. For someone who looks at "white" (snow) 5 or 6 months of the year color is a necessity! Smiling

Several other forum sites that I currently belong to allow for you to customize the color background and font style/size. It would be a great perk especially for those where the white is a little to harsh on the eyes.
